Captain Al Kelly of the Ben Hill County Sheriff's Office died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at approximately 7:00 am, at Tift General Hospital after a weeks illness with gallstones.
Captain Kelly was a 30+ year veteran of law enforcement with a distinguished career as a Drug Investigator. He worked with the Ben Hill County Sheriff's Office, Ocilla PD, Irwin County Sheriff's Office, Tift County Sheriff's Office, and Commander of the South Central Drug Task Force.
Captain Kelly was laid to rest on Wednesday, June 25th, 2008, with a full Law Enforcement ceremony.
All officers who attended were honorary pallbearers.
